What started as a simple nostalgia trip to once again play the original Backyard Monsters Flash game, quickly became a disappointing reality when servers where shutdown in late December 2020, due to the end-of-life for Flash approaching. Since that time, communities of once dedicated players, made great attempts in preserving as much as possible of the original game as they could. A solo effort in early 2023 began, for reverse engineering the original preserved game files in an attempt to emulate the missing server component which was required in order for the game to work correctly. A development team of just two at the beginning, quickly grew into a passionate group of developers who worked around the clock to stitch the game back together. The game is now well underway for playing again, and a massive portion of it has been restored.
